The Beatitudes Bible Study

What Are The Beatitudes Bible Study
What Are The Beatitudes Bible Study?

The Beatitudes Bible Study was designed to explain the blessings that Jesus used to teach His disciples during His sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5.

What are the Beatitudes?

The beatitudes are the preachings of Jesus in Matthew 5 where He describes a character trait and then the reward that the person will receive who possesses that certain characteristic.

I have been in the privileged position to do a Bible Study on Matthew 5,6, and 7 many years ago and can still remember how much it meant not only to me but also to the others who attended it.

Therefore I decided to do a Beatitudes Series from Matthew 5 on Tabitha Blogs to equip every believer who desires to live a life that will please God’s Father’s heart with all the treasures from these teachings.

Some believe Luke was correct with his recording of The Sermon On The Mount which follows directly after the choosing of the twelve disciples.

Another interesting theory is that Matthew 5 is a collection of the teachings of Jesus written in a pattern and that the Sermon On The Mount is not a sermon that was preached on one occasion, but rather continually spoken to His disciples where they were together.

Also, some suspect that Jesus took the twelve disciples away to a secluded place where He could teach them and then teach them the beatitudes.

Whatever the truth, background, or history of the beatitudes may be, we are in a fortunate position to learn from the same teachings that Jesus taught His disciples.

What Will I Benefit From Studying The Beatitudes?

  • You will learn directly from the teachings Jesus taught His disciples.
  • You will learn Kingdom Dynamics from these Scriptures.
  • You will know what God requires from you to receive eternal life.
  • You will get fresh insight and perspective on the Scriptures.
  • You will learn how to apply this to your own life.
  • You will learn how to recognize God’s promises to you connected to the teaching.
  • You will learn how to pray to apply the lesson to your own life.
  • By setting time aside for these studies, you will learn how to cultivate a new habit to spend time with God.

For Who Is The Beatitudes Bible Study?

It doesn’t matter what your age or gender is, the Beatitudes Bible Study is for everyone who desires to live a fruitful life and inherit the Kingdom of God.

Even if you serve the Lord for many years and know the Scriptures you can still benefit from doing it again seeing that the Holy Spirit is faithful and minister to us what He want to teach us at that moment.

How To Do The Beatitudes Bible Study

You decide for yourself how you want to participate in the Bible Study:

  1. You can only read the day’s devotional and pray Scriptural Prayer at the end of the post.
  2. Or you can do point 1 and read also the Additional Scriptures in your Bible or online.
  3. Or you can do Scripture Writing and write the Day’s Scripture in your notebook/journal.
  4. Or you can do points 1 & 2 with one of the Bible Study Methods from our Complimentary Gift – Bible Study Methods In Four Ways which you can download here.

How Will The Beatitudes Bible Study Work?

The Beatitudes Bible Study will be in the form of regular blog posts on Tabitha Blogs and anyone can have access to The Beatitudes Series written in a Bible Study format.

It will be like an Online Bible Study, except you will do it in the comfort of your own time and home.

If you have any questions about the Bible Study, please send us an e-mail at admin@thewillowtree.co.za and we will get back to you ASAP.

I wrote the articles in a Bible Study format to give you insight and understanding of the meaning of the Scripture.

At the end of the article, I included a Let’s Get Practical section where I will explain how we can Apply it to our own lives (if you feel uncertain and do not know), a Promise from Scripture linking back to the verse that we studied, Prayer Points that will help you to get a step closer to the required beatitude, and lastly Additional Reading on the topic that you can read in your own Bibles in your quiet time with God.

If you have a busy schedule and do not want to tie yourself to a Bible Study this is an excellent solution seeing that you can do all the reading from your phone, tablet, or computer.

All the Scripture is also linked, all you have to do is click on it and read it immediately online.

The beautiful thing about studying the Beatitudes is that you will feel so touched by the teaching that you will share it with someone else, and then you will be making disciples by teaching them what Jesus taught His disciples.

Immediately after I publish the next post in the Beatitudes Series on Tabitha Blogs I will also post the link to The Beatitudes Page to make it easier for you to have easy access to it from one place. You will also be able to access it from Tabitha Blogs.

Join me on the mountain while we sit at the feet of Jesus, learning from Him about the Kingdom of God.

Please share it on social media to equip others with these truths spoken by Jesus.

Everything in Him, unto Him, and to glorify His Holy Name!

Pray God’s Names

Pray God's Names
How & Why To Pray God’s Names

How & Why To Pray God’s Names is to illustrate how God reveals Himself to us when we pray His Name, as well as how it’s God’s desire for us to pray His Names.

One of the things that grabbed my attention in studying God’s Names is that He already is what we need Him to be before we call on Him!

By praying the Names of God you will experience His tangible presence, and feel how doubts in your heart decrease while faith increases.

The Name of God you pray will give you an image of Him in your spirit that reveals His majesty and splendor in another dimension.

Your prayers will be answered in more ways you could ever imagine that will reveal His glorious power to you.

Praying God’s Names is a truly anointed experience and if you never prayed God’s Names may this article encourage you to do so.

8 Different Ways To Pray God’s Names

1. Call On God’s Name

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord!  Call upon His nameMake known His deeds among the peoples!”

1 Chronicles 16:8

This is the composition of David’s first psalm, and probably the first psalm used for the tabernacle service.

God yearns for us to call on His Name, and when we use His Name to call on Him, it is a very strong form of prayer.

When we call on His Name, not only will He hear us, but every creature in the spiritual realm will also know it.

We can testify of God’s greatness and make His deeds known among the people, and there is no better way to do it than to tell them about His characteristics from His Names!

We can be confident in this promise from Psalm 91:15 where God tells us when we abide in Him, He will answer when we call on Him, in trouble He will be with us, deliver and honor us.

Example:  Light of the World, I give thanks to your Name and call on Your Name today to let Your light shine on my life and circumstances.  You are Mighty In Battle, I call on You to show Yourself mighty on my behalf.  Let me make known Your deeds among the peoples and everyone will know You are the only Prince of Peace.

When you are interceding for others, You can call the Name of the Lord over them for the need they have.  Are they sick?  Healer!  Are they in trouble?  Helper!  Do they need God?  Savior!

2. Confess God’s Name

“Or if Your people Israel are defeated before an enemy because they have sinned against You, and return and confess Your name, and pray and make supplication before You in this temple, then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of Your people Israel, and bring them back to the land which You gave to them and their fathers.”

2 Chronicles 6:24-25

In this prayer, Solomon intercedes on behalf of Israel who sinned against God.

Whenever we ourselves have sinned, we can confess our sins and His Name, this is also a very powerful Scripture to pray if you are interceding for other people or nations.

God grant His forgiveness and restoration to His children’s humble confessions and repentance of sins.

When praying His Names during confession the Holy Spirit usually fills your heart with humility.

Example:  High Priest, I confess Your Name, and ask for forgiveness for my sins (if you intercede for other people or nations you can name them here.)  You are my Helper, God of the whole earth, God of truth, God Most High, God Who Does Wonders, God Who Saves, God Who Sees!  May Your Name be glorified on the earth.

3. Declare God’s Name

“To declare the name of the Lord in Zion, And His praise in Jerusalem,”

Psalm 102:21

To declare God’s Name is to make an announcement of His characteristics, making it official.

When we declare God’s Names in our prayer time we tell our problems and circumstances how big our God is.

This will fill our hearts with new comfort and courage and we will know that God is bigger than any problem we may face.

Our motivation to declare God’s Name should always be to give Him glory and praise His Name.

Example: Fortress, I declare Your Name over every area of my life, let Your Name echo over the nations of the earth. You alone are our Foundation, our Fountain, Fortress, and Savior! May Your Name be glorified over the world!

5. Praise God’s Name

“Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord,  Praise the name of the Lord!  Blessed be the name of the Lord  From this time forth and forevermore!  From the rising of the sun to its going down  The Lord’s name is to be praised.”

Psalm 113:1-3

When we know God’s Name we will spontaneously break out and worship Him, telling Him how great, mighty, glorious, and full of wonder He is.

To praise God by praying His Names we will be filled with awe of His splendor and majesty.

As believers, we are both God’s children, and servants.  As servants of the Highest God our motivation is bigger to give Him all the honor He deserves.

When we pray His Name, we exalt Him for the character that His Name resembles.

We realize we don’t worship any god, but the One and Only God, and He reveals Himself to us through His character.

By praying His Names we can be sure that we are closer to worshiping Him in a way that is acceptable to Him, in spirit and in truth.

God is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore, and is worthy to be praised forevermore by His servants.

To praise Him from the rising of the sun until it’s going down means we must praise Him throughout the day, every day.

Example:  Lord You are worthy of our praises.  You are my Creator, my Hiding Place, King of kings and so much more. Almighty God You are everything.  Blessed be Your Name Lord, from the rising of the sun to its going down, let all the people bless Your holy Name!

6. Proclaim God’s Name

“For I proclaim the name of the Lord: Ascribe greatness to our God. He is the Rock, His work is perfect;  For all His ways are justice,  A God of truth and without injustice;  Righteous and upright is He.”

Deuteronomy 32:3-4

The Name of God is worthy to be proclaimed all over the earth.

By proclaiming His Name, not alone do we glorify Him, but also proclaim His characteristics over ourselves and our circumstances.  Christ is our Rock, and everything He does is perfect, He is just and fair and there is no injustice found in Him.

By proclaiming His character we bring His characteristics from heaven to earth, thereby glorifying Him, and bringing a shift in the spiritual realm.

One of the wonderful benefits to proclaim His Name is that you can feel how His peace and power fill you simultaneously.

Example:  Wonderful Counsellor, I proclaim Your Name over my life, our nation, and the earth.  Let everyone see how Wonderful You are.  You are my Great God, everything about You is perfect  You are my Rock, Truth, and Salvation, my Righteous God, let all the earth be filled with Your Wonderful Name.

7. Walk-In God’s Name

“Who among you fears the Lord?  Who obeys the voice of His Servant?  Who walks in darkness  And has no light?  Let him trust in the name of the Lord  And rely upon his God.”

Isaiah 50:10

This Scripture compliment 2 Corinthians 5:7 that we walk by faith and not by sight.

When we have faith, we will trust God and rely on Him.  To trust in the Name of the Lord is to know that He will show Himself strong on your behalf and manifest His character to you.

For instance, if you need provision and trust in the Lord Who Provides, He will provide for you, if you need Him to help you, He will be your Helper.  By praying God’s Names you will start to ‘walk’ in His Names, in the light seeing where you are and where you are going, not like walking in the dark where you cannot see anything.

Example: Alpha and Omega, You are my everything, my Shepherd, Comforter, Author And Perfector Of Our Faith, teach me to walk by faith, and not by sight, in Your Name alone!

8. Worship God’s Name

“They will love Me and worship in My Name.”

Isaiah 56-6 (CEV)

Worship is God’s love language.

When we are in a loving relationship with God, spending time with Him, and praying His Name, our natural response will be to love Him and worship Him.

It will not be something that we know we must do, for it is what God desires, but it will be a natural, spontaneous response to love and worship Him from the heart.

Example: Mighty God, You are love, the Eternal God, there is none like You, I love You, You are the Desire Of Nations, the Bread Of Life, You are full of glory, splendor, and majesty, I will worship Your holy Name!

It is my prayer that you will know God in deeper ways you ever thought possible to be strong and carry out great exploits for Him!

“But the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.”

Daniel 11:32

Everything in Him, unto Him, and to glorify His Holy Name!

12 Reasons To Study God’s Names

12 Reasons To Study God’s Names

12 Magnificent Reasons To Study God's Nameso
12 Magnificent Reasons To Study Gods Names

12 Reasons To Study God’s Names is an article I wrote to illustrate to you, my dear reader that our God is truly magnificent in all of His glory and majesty!

When studying God’s Names, I always realize anew how unique God is, there is no other like Him, who can be all the wonderful names and attributes at once.

The extent of God’s Names is so much bigger and more worthy than our human minds can comprehend.

The Names of God and the Trinity, represent His pure, undefiled character.

God is who His Names say He is, helping us to understand that the Name of Jesus is above every other Name.

May you clearly hear the voice of the Holy Spirit ministering to you while reading this article.

12 Magnificent Reasons To Study God’s Names

1. Everyone will witness God’s Name on us

“Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you.”

Deuteronomy 28:10

We will enjoy all the blessings of Deuteronomy 28 when we live a life that pleases God.  Our lives will reflect God and everyone will see that we are called by the Name of the Lord, that we are His own people.

2. God will do good things for us

“I will praise You forever,  Because You have done it;  And in the presence of Your saints  I will wait on Your name, for it is good.”

Psalm 52:9

We know we can rely on God, trust in Him, and wait for Him.  The miracles He did in the past He will do again, and even bigger.  God is good, and His Name is worthy to be praised.

3. God will defend us

“But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;  Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;  Let those also who love Your name be joyful in You.

Psalm 5:11

Trust is when we rely on God, knowing how dependant we are on Him, knowing how insignificant we as humans are. We will shout for joy because God defends those who love His Name.

4. We will experience being more content

“Yes, in the way of Your judgments,  O Lord, we have waited for You;  The desire of our soul is for Your name  And for the remembrance of You.”

Isaiah 26:8

The Lord’s judgments talk about God’s laws and statutes, but can also be our trials and afflictions.  Whatever it may be, the people waited for God and their soul’s desire is for His Name and His legacy.  Their desire is for God to deliver them and to display His friendship toward them. When we wait on God and He is the desire for our souls, we will be more content.

5. We will experience increased wisdom

“The Lord’s voice cries to the city—Wisdom shall see Your name:  Hear the rod!  Who has appointed it?”

Micah 6:9

In this verse, God is speaking Himself telling the people in Jerusalem, that those who heed His Name and obey, will have wisdom.  They are not only hearers, but profit by what they hear, and with spiritual ears will hear God’s rod.  When we know God, we will have increased wisdom, will listen to God, and be obedient to Him.

6. We will experience God’s divine intervention

“Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”

Psalm 124:8

God is our help, His Name is the foundation for our dependence on Him in our trials and tribulations.  God has made heaven and earth, and everything that exists.  When we know God, we will know we have help in His Name, and He will show Himself strong on our behalf.

7. We will experience God’s divine protection

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower;  The righteous run to it and are safe.”

Proverbs 18:10

God’s Name is a strong tower, like a place of safety, we can run to it and are safe.  When we live righteous lives, we have the assurance that on the day of trouble God’s Name will be a strong tower where we will receive His divine protection.

8. We will receive God’s forgiveness

“For Your name’s sake, O Lord,  Pardon my iniquity, for it is great.”

Psalm 25:11

David was a man who cherished a deep love and reverence for God, in His devotion to God, David knew he was a sinner and needed God’s pardon.  When we confess our sins before God, we will receive His forgiveness and His Name will be glorified.

9. We will experience more vigor

“Inasmuch as there is none like You, O Lord  (You are great, and Your name is great in might)”

Jeremiah 10:6

There is no other god like the Lord God, Almighty!  His general nature is of being more than able to help and save us in any situation.  When we are true to Him, trust Him and wait on Him, He will be dedicated to us.  Just like God’s Name, He is overflowing in power and might.  When we have an intimate relationship with Him and trust Him, we will praise Him naturally knowing how mighty He is, and experience more vigor.

10. We will experience our worship intensify

“O Lord, I pray, please let Your ear be attentive to the prayer of Your servant, and to the prayer of Your servants who desire to fear Your name; and let Your servant prosper this day, I pray, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.”

Nehemiah 1:11

In this beautiful prayer, Nehemiah is praying for the king and His servants who desire to fear His Name.  When we have a deep longing for God and spend time giving Him glory and honor, we will have a natural desire to fear His Name while our worship intensifies.  God will let us prosper and grant us mercy.

11. We will experience victory

“Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.”

1 Samuel 17:45

David expressed his complete trust in God when He spoke these words to the Philistine.  He expressed his disregard for the Philistine’s weapons knowing that his God is a Mighty Warrior and more than able to give him victory over the giant.  When we completely trust God with an undivided heart, calling on His Name, He will give us victory over our enemies.

12. We will receive salvation.

“For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Romans 10:13

When we humbly call on God’s Name, knowing we are sinners and need forgiveness, God will grant it to us and we will be saved. When we are saved, God’s Name will be glorified in all the heaven and earth.

If there is anything you can add to this list, please tell us in the comments below, or just tell us how you experienced this article.

Transformation In Knowing God’s Name

Transformation In Knowing God’s Name is to explain while studying God’s Names and attributes, you will be transformed into someone who learned to trust God more as you get to know Him better.

I cannot think of anything more fulfilling than studying God’s Names.

You get to know Him in so much more of His dimensions and majesty, and soon realize our human brains cannot begin to comprehend God’s glory and character.

God’s Names, reflect His attributes, characteristics, and qualities.

“May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you; May He send you help from the sanctuary, And strengthen you out of Zion.”

Psalm 20:1-2

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, But we will remember and trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

Psalm 20:7

The psalmist describes two types of people, those who trust in others, and those who trust in God.

Chariots and horses refer to the military in times of war.  The wealthy unbelievers trust in their wealth and influence.  The influential unbelievers trust in their own plans and complots.

But the believers who know God will trust in His Name, knowing He will answer in the day of trouble, defend you, send you help from the sanctuary and strengthen you.

These are only things that the Lord God Almighty can do, no military forces, or wealthy influential forces can do the things that our Lord God does for His children.

This beautiful promise from Psalm 91 is for all God’s children who have a relationship with Him, know Him, and are known by Him.

Because you have set your love upon God, He will deliver you, He will set you on high because you know His name. (Psalm 91:14)

It is my prayer that during the Names Of God Bible Study, you will learn to trust in God with all your heart.

That you will be transformed into His beloved child who intimately knows Him having a burning desire to spend quality time with Your Father who you will get to know by His Name.

Hear the love in God’s words as He tells you not to fear, for  He has redeemed you, He has called you by your name, you are His.  (Isaiah 43:1)

It is impossible for us to know God completely, and certainly not as good as He knows us, but by studying His Names and attributes we are definitely moving a step closer.

Your relationship with God will grow stronger, while you spend time in His presence, getting to know Him in more ways than you could ever imagine.

Can’t wait to meet you on the forum, where we can learn and grow together while spending time in His presence.

Jesus Prayed For You And Me

Jesus Prayed For You And Me is only a short article to show how much God loves His children.

“Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.”

John 17:24

Jesus prays in this prayer, also called the High Priestly Prayer, for His disciples and for other believers who will accept Him through their witness and testimony.

That includes you and me.

Isn’t that wonderful?!

Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane, before being captured to be crucified for you and me.

He expressed His deepest desire that we may be with Him in heaven, receiving eternal life and walking with Him in His glory.

Then He pray: “for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.”

Just as God loved Jesus before the foundation of the world, He also loved you and me and already had a plan for our lives.

Why You Need A Solid Spiritual Foundation, is just a short article to explain the 5 factors that need to be considered when building a real house.

Let’s look at what Jesus said about building a Rock-solid spiritual foundation:

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

The 5 factors that need to be considered when building a real home:

1. Provides Insulation

In countries like Canada where it is cold, a solid foundation can have insulation installed to keep the house warm.

This can save a lot of money if you have the insulation installed from the start when the foundation is built.

2. Provides Support To The Home

Before the foundation of a house can be built, the builders must dig deep into the ground to ensure the foundation is under the ground.

Then the house will be able to stand, otherwise, the house can sink unevenly into the ground, and the foundation can crack, which in return will damage your house.

3. Provides Stability

Weather conditions cause the soil conditions to change constantly.

Also, the water tables and tectonics plates can move and be altered below your house at any time.

When you built a strong solid foundation on a rock, it will provide stability to your home which will prevent disaster.

4. Prevents Moisture

Weather conditions like rain and snow can cause moisture to penetrate and weaken your home’s structure.

When you include damp proofing material when you built your foundation it can help to prevent structural damage.

5. Keep Insects Out

There live a lot of insects and bugs in the soil.

If your house does not have a solid foundation your home can be damaged by insects.

When your spiritual foundation is built correctly from the start, you can be sure your house will not at a later stage suffer damage and destruction.

Not Just A Possession is a short promotional article to explain the importance of building a solid spiritual foundation.

“Nevertheless, the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His”

2 Timothy 2:19

In this Scripture, Paul explained that God’s foundation is solid and stands – meaning it cannot be destroyed by anything.

In Biblical times usually, a signet ring with the names and title of the king was used to seal letters with wax.

God seals believers with the Holy Spirit, His mark is placed on them to know they are His.

The Lord knows those who are His!

The wonderful news is that God knows You, You don’t belong to someone who owns so many things and doesn’t know everything he possesses.

If you gave Your life to Christ, and sanctify yourself you can be certain that God’s seal of approval and ownership rests on you.

In the Rock Solid Foundations Online Bible Study, we will study how to build with lasting materials that will not decay and is fireproof.

Count The Cost

Count The Cost

“For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him” Luke 14:28-29
Count The Cost

Count The Cost is just a short article to explain that we need to give Jesus total Lordship over our lives to build a rock-solid spiritual foundation.

“For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

1 Corinthians 3:11

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and through Him, we can have life in abundance.

He is also our Good Shepherd and the Door of the Sheep.

We have no access to the Father, except through Jesus, and we cannot build strong foundations in our spiritual lives without Him.

Jesus said:

“For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him”

Luke 14:28-29

When we sit down and plan the cost to build our spiritual foundations, we need to know that the only solid foundation we can lay is Jesus Christ, without Him we will not be able to finish building and be mocked by those watching us.

When we start serving God through Christ we will need to lay down certain things.

That is why Jesus said we must count the cost – what will the cost be to serve Him.

When we serve Him we will face persecution and will need to lay down some things like habits, the wrong lifestyle, relationships, etc.

Knowing these things are only temporary and when we persevere we will receive eternal life will help us to get the right mindset in these things.
